Hi, Could someone please tell me if my information is correct:
So when assessing if a particular study is high in validity, the following things need to be considered:
Controls, researcher bias, confounding variables, demand characteristics
whereas when assessing if a study is high in reliability, the following need to be considered:
methodology (i.e., was there a standardized procedure for each participant?) and results (i.e., if the study is to be conducted in a different place, at a different time, on different people, will it bear the same results?)
Thanks so much, I've always found validity and reliability the toughest thing about research.
:)
More or less yes. There are specific types of reliability and validity too. It actually makes it easier to go to the next level and learn about the different subtypes, as then it makes the general terms clearer. Here is a good website with definitions: http://www.statisticshowto.com/reliability-validity-definitions-examples/
