Cafe Del Mar is a balleric chillout compilation . The cafe is a real venue in Ibiza which has good views of the sunset at SanAn and they always play an awesome chillout set when the sun goes down, usually a super-cool DJ like Jose Padilla. Everyone relaxes on the rocks, has a few beers and then goes off & "has it". This will be me next week YEY!!! Del Mar was the orignial sunset bar which started in the late 70's. The last 5 yrs or so it has got a bit swamped with tourists and the drinks are horrendo about 20 euros each, but the music is still lovely.
Hed Kandi was an independant house music label but was bought by Ministry of Sound last year. You might recognize them by their fantasic anime style illustrations on the covers of the CD's. Back to Love is an old skool compilation with such greats as Lisa Stansfield People Hold On, Sidney Young Blood People all around the world and More Kante Yeke Yeke. They do a wicked chill out series "served chilled Vol2" It is the best.
Seriously even if you don't like dance Cafe Del Mar is really relaxing. You don't have to be in to heavy dance music to enjoy it. I recommend volume 7 - it's got that song from American Beauty on it I think & lots of other tracks with spanish guitar and lovely dreamy vocals. Loves it. As I gracefully move into my 30's I can't handle some of the heavier stuff and when I listen to Gabba or similar now, I just put my fingers in my ears, where as 10-11 years ago I was out on a week night givin it some. I've gone all giddy now, I'm going to Ibiza next week. Can't wait.
BTW: danB, as Kim Wildes pop career dwindled she went and retrained and did a horticulture degree. She knows her herbs and spices that one.
