The title sums it up really!
I've been waiting for ages to hear about a job application and had basically written off getting an intreview. Found out today I have one :-) but it's the day after I fly to Montreal for a conference :-(
Airline say no changes allowed to booking
HR say they'll speak to the panel to see if I can get an alternative interview date but can't promise anything.
Anyway now waiting to hear. Worried it'll get to the end of the day and then my uni is shut for Easter and I don't know about the place the interview's at.
Know I need to wait to hear and worry if I can 't change interview once I know, but wondered what others would do in this situations....
Skip conference (and lose £490 flight)
Book new one way ticket (~£400 of money I don't have but my Mum would possibly lend it to me)
Skip interview and miss out on possible post doc
Find out if I'm covered under uni travel insurance (as not got round to sorting my own yet) and whether this would pay out for date change - anyone know anything about this option?
I think the uni travel insurance is worth trying. I know I was covered for conference trips. Try searching your uni website for insurance - mine had a summary of the cover provided online.
Thanks Bewildered. Just had a look, uni policy says it will cover expenses due to changes outside the the control of the insured person,
But lists as an exemption
4.
any expenses incurred as a result of the disinclination of an Insured Person to travel on or to continue an Insured Journey;
Any idea if wanting to attend a job interview come under "disinclination to travel"?
Anyway not heard back from HR so probably wont know til next Wed if interview can be rearranged :-(
