I wondered how other people with subjects allied to history/ art history built up their historical framework. I have collected a large number of sources, and begun to interpret them, but I am having a problem building an arguement that is historical - i.e. chronological. So my arguments and thesis lacks a historical narrative...
Any advice. I am sat down today with felt tip pens, paper and survey books to try and etch out a narrative...
Hi
Have you read any/many books on historiography? (historical framworks). I'm doing a design history phd, and have not previously done history degrees, so I found reading these quite useful. There's one called 'The houses of History' which describe different historical framworks - you can see which way you analyse/look at things, and then see which framework you're closest to.
Just a suggestion....
