Hi I am from NZ and have studied BSc in Ecology and Biodiversity, and now a MSc in Restoration Ecology, focussing on wetland restoration.
I want to do my PhD in conservation or ecological restoration - but in Africa!
Would appreciate if anyone knew any opening in any PhD programs
Thanks
Wow great location! Good luck. I think I recently saw something along those lines in conjunction with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL, i.e. London Zoo) but I have a funny feeling it was a postdoc or a research position. However, it shows that they do stuff in this area so you can e-mail them and say you are interested in this area and would like to do a PhD/further research in this area and would they be interested? You will need to find a uni that you can register your degree with as ZSL can't award degrees but they might have links with unis/research groups/academics so that may make it easier.
Hi Curlyread,
I think Exeter Uni does a lot of work in Africa but from their Cornwall campus see below. Perhaps you could contact potential supervisors there?

I'm not sure many universities will have advertised PhD's for African projects but check on findaphd.com regularly. I think your best bet is coming up with your own proposal and taking it to supervisors you think could be interested, you can look at university websites as most tell you all their Professors research interests I'm sure there will be a few with African Conservation interests.
Good luck!
Caro

If you get one, I'll probably hate you a little bit, cos I want to do one too! Mainly to watch zebras though :-x
BBC wildlife magazine often has research opportunitie in the back - may be a good start. THere's a conservation department that does lots of practical work called the durrell institure I think? http://www.kent.ac.uk/dice/
