I am writing up my methods/methodology chapter & have driven myself into a state of tense anxiety listening to the soundtrack from City of God, Mandalay compliation,Cream: Rock the Disco, HedKandi Back to Love 3 and and old John Digweed compo over and over this week. Last week it was the acoustic miserablists as I like to call them, Bob Dylan, Damien Rice, David Gray & Susan Vega with some Tribe Called Quest and De la Soul interludes.
Has anyone got any good suggestions for writing up music?!
The only radio station I can get in my office is a local BBC one. Though a whole morning with an old man moaning about tax discs, or an old lady campaigning about the closing of a tourist office in a place where there are no tourists is driving me mad...
As I am writing up, I am returning to the music I listened during periods of my life that I found most productive. Namely final year undergrad - so all albums I bought then! David Gray, Shakira, Country Greatest Hits, Texas, Simon & Garfunkel, Billy Joel, Madness, Smash Hits 2002 and NOW compilations from 2002. Oh and good old Radio 2 - Steve Wright - gotta be the best!?!
I am stuck writing up on a Friday night - massively behind with a draft of a chapter that is due in on Monday. I am really in the pooh with it.
Ann TOP top suggestion have just slung together a Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Farm, Inspiral Carpets, Early Blur/ Charlatans play list for the iPod, just slipping it into the bose now. Makes me think of being 16 on my first holidays without my parents! Just going to dig out my "cool as f**k" t-shirt.
