I read on a web page yesterday that the bibliography should list everything you have read in the preparation of the paper/ thesis. I thought that it should list papers /documents /web pages that have actually been referenced in the paper you are writing. Can someone please clarify which is correct.
Thanks
Max
Ask your supervisor. Mine has told me to only include works that are actually cited at some point in the thesis itself. This is why you get those big footnotes with a string of references in them sometimes; so you can stick it all in the bibliography to look impressive!
Hey! My understanding was that some subjects have a bibliography (more art/literature type subjects) where you include everything you have looked at in preparation for your work, but other subjects (more science-type stuff) have a reference section, where you only list things that you have referenced in your work. Could be wrong though! Best, KB
