black eppendorfs anyone?

P

anyone know were i can order black eppendorfs from?

C

Is that a relative of a smurf?

P

probably would be much easier to find

M

Is this for light-sensitive reagents? If so, most university stores stock them. Otherwise, try Fisher Scientific, using product codes

TUL-150-130T for 500 * 0.5ml

TUL-150-270D for 1000 * 1.5ml

TUL-150-410N for 1000 * 2.0ml

These tubes are amber, and reduce light entry by 99% according to the descriptions.

M

Or this company have them, although only in 1.5ml sizes...

M

No probs. What's your project, PinkTrifle?

P

immunology, looking at the immune response in muscle, so soon will be using fluorophores

M

Oh very nice - one of the areas I'm interested in, broadly. Whereabouts are you?

P

liverpool, and you?

P

ok, ordered 5000 of them from camlab, thanx for the help x

M

I'm not at the moment, but looking for PhDs (long story, see my thread on interviews near the top), but would like to choose from Manchester, Brum, Liverpool, Notts, Sheffield, Leeds, or other northern/mids unis.

P

in what area? my first degree was in physiology but did a masters too so i think that helped my application

M

Well ideally neuropharmacology, but I also have an interest in immunology. Anything in the molecular field really - I nearly applied for a 4 year Wellcome Trust PhD in Cellular and Moelcualr Physiology at Liverpool, but decided not to.

P

you should reconsider applying there, it has an excellent RAE rating, also there's a new studentship advertised in the school of tropical medicine, have alook at it, Dr Gordon is extremely friendly as are most of the staff there
