British Masters degree translated into the American GPA

C

Hello,
I am currently trying to apply for " Teach for America" which aquires a GPA of 2.5. Would you be able to tell me what my 2.2 which I attained at a Masters degree level translates into?
Also - do I get a higher GPA grade for attaining a 2.2 at MA level as opposed to BA level?
I went to Edinburgh University which is a 4 year degree which does not do BA, but automaticlly gives you an MA. So unfortunately I do not have a BA grade.
I would be most appreciative if you could help me with this.
Many thanks,
Caroline Henrichs

The 4 year undergraduate MA will most likely translate to be the equivalent of a very good university's BA over there. A gpa of 2.5 is very poor. About the equivalent of a 3rd. I received a 2.2 BSc (Hons) at a university at the same level as yours and it apparently translated to a 3.2/3.3 from a good university over there. With yours being a 2.2 MA I feel you would have no problem getting in. There are qualification translation services which can give authenticated degree conversion equivalents. These are usually required for US government jobs

I'm assuming you're a 'citizen, national, or lawful permanent residents of the United States?'

Yes - actually I just got married to an American man- that is why I am having to go through this whole crazy process. Do you know how I could double check this and get a proper certification to show the Teaching Program which I am applying for?
Many Thanks for your quick response.
