Can I use first person in a paper abstract?

M

This is an academic abstract for a very speaker-friendly graduate and early career researchers conference, with a very welcoming and supportive environment.

Yes or no?

P

I'm leaning towards a no....simply because a conference by its nature is meant to be a formal affair. Stick with the third person, just to be safe :)

I looked at last year's conference booklet and most speakers used third person. Thanks. I think I will do the same.

I think NO; not a good idea! You don't have to use First person format for making it user-friendly. I mean you can also bring ease in communication with third person writing format (after all this is prevalent).
