Cass vs. Manchester Business School

J

Greetings all,

Been doing a little bit of research on my own lately, but would like to get some expert advices on forums for a more personalized approach.

I've been recently admitted to the following:
1. Manchester Business School - Msc International Business and Management
2. Cass Business School - Msc Management

I've been having trouble to decide which offer I should take. Upon graduation, my plan is to hopefully find a job either in China (Shanghai), or return to NYC.

Cost-wise, MBS is obviously less expensive. MBS is also a very reputable school with a higher ranking than Cass. On the other hand, Cass' professional network may be more robust due to its location in London. If I could get some directions, that would be very helpful!

Thanks,

Jon

Hi,

Management isn't my discipline, but I'd say to go to MBS. The university is huge and it's gaining a good international reputation since its merger.

Just because Cass is in London doesn't necessarily mean it wil have the best networking opportunities as it has to be compete directly with big-hitters like London Business School.

Lots of Chinese students attend Manchester, so I imagine it has a very good reputation back in China if that's where you intend to work.

You'd probably get much better feedback if you post on an MBA forum rather than a general postgrad forum.

Hi,

With regards to your question, I would take CASS over Manchester. But I am a City grad, so I'm inherently biased.

As a secondary point, and forgive me for piggybacking on your thread, but I too was looking into doing an MSc in Management. However, given the costs involved at the top institutions (CASS, Imperial, Manchester etc), I am begining to think whether it is worth it? MBA costs are prohibitive, but there is a tangible benefit in doing one. An MSc in Management, on the other hand, is only marginally cheaper but doesn't have the same gravitas? Would you agree?
