Citing internet-based newspaper articles

4

I have a newspaper article that I want to cite, mainly as an example of something bad. I have a link to the page I retrieved it from, and a date, and also the date of publication in the newspaper itself. I also have the author's name.

How should I cite this in a lit review/references section, and how should I enter it in EndNote?

Many thanks!

:-)

Hi I've just copied this from my departments referencing guide, hope it helps. I don't use endnote so can't help there I'm afraid.

If you access and refer to a newspaper article online, your reference would appear as follows:
Author (Year) ‘Article title’, Newspaper Title, Day Month, page number (if given), viewed Day Month Year, URL.
For example:
Syal, R. (2009) ‘Body Shop ethics under fire after Colombian peasant evictions’, The Guardian, 13th September, viewed 13th September 2009, (type the URL here)

Depends on which referencing system is used in your department.. ;-)

Below are some examples relating to Harvard APA referencing system:

References section:

McKeown, S. (2007, March 20). Words of encouragement. The Guardian. Retrieved June 18, 2007, from http://education.guardian.co.uk/elearning/story/0,,2037520,00.html

Citation:
McKeown (2007) writes that...
As argued in McKeown (2007), ...
... argument seems to be invalid (McKeown, 2007).

Entering the reference to Endnote:

See page 12 of this guide: http://www.library.uq.edu.au/training/citation/apa_6.pdf (table, row 5).
