i've just finished a masters in pure maths and can't find a job anywhere. i need computing experience for the jobs i'm interested in and am thinking of doing a conversion course, any advice on places to apply/avoid, such as Cambridge, Bristol?

I think the 'computing course' idea may not really be a great one. The country is literally awash with Computing grads/postgrads that can't get work [it's all gone to India, in case you didn't know]. Strangely I know at least 4 Comp postgrads that wished they'd have pursued the maths route as there are 'more jobs'. Sorry.

Agh! the vast majority of jobs i'm interested in require 'strong maths with c++' (or generally just strong programming skills). i have the maths but not the computer skills. i have been advised not to try learning from books - is there a solution?
