Hi, I've done a mathematics degree and a masters in computing. I am now trying to switch to the biological sciences field (Molecular biology in particular), you see i want something hands on. I realise I'm not eligible for a PhD, but does any one know of any MSc's in biosciences that accept maths graduates.

G

Sorry, i should have made this clearer, i can only apply for a masters with a scholarship. Still have three years of student loans to contend with!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe look at Computational Biology, Biostatistics or Bioinformatics, Biophysics.

Depends if you're UK student. The research councils produce a list of masters they fund, so will tell you which unis and what the courses are. From that you can then probably make enquiries to the relevant places. Look at BBSRC website probably first.

Um I think you're searching for them in the wrong place because you won't find any prions on this forum. Have you tried looking in tissue samples?

(Apologies for the non-constructive post)

@Sunil

The Institute for Animal Health (IAH) Neuropathogenesis Unit in Edinburgh looks at TSE's so that could be a place to have a look. I know this year they had 2 PhD studentships available looking at prion proteins etc. so chances are there will be more in the new year.

Can't beat a bit of Shepherd's Prion
