Could Someone Please Help Me!

G

I am interested in doing a phd in insurance/risk management/wealth management in one of the EU countries. Would very much appreciate it if someone could kindly advise me as to which university offers such a programme. Many thanks.

C

There are 27 member states in the European Union, with 23 offical languages. You probably need to be more specific about where you want to go and different PhD systems will be vastly different....

S

Sorry, don't know. But as good practice for your PhD research, you can start by researching EU institutions.

G

Thank you, Chrisrolinski and Sylvester, for your advices.

I am hoping to do my Phd in one of the Scandinavan countries if possible as I have a little knowledge of the language and think it would be easier for me to pick up from there. However, I hope the course can be conducted in English. I actually do not mind doing it in any of the other EU countries if the Scandinavan countries do not have the course that I intend to take.

I was on the net looking for Swedish language courses, and found that a lot of Swedish institutions teach undergraduate and MA courses with English instruction.

Karlstad University (Karlstads Universitet) offers a MA in Societal Risk Management for example, taught in English.

In terms of PhD's - most of the Swedish universities I looked at, like Gothenburg (Göteborg) offered PhD's to English speakers - but offered courses in Swedish (language classes) as part of the PhD so that you could (eventually) take part in seminars/conferences that are in Swedish.

Hi Chrisrolinski,

Thank you very much for the information.

Are you interested to take up the Swedish language? If so, you can actually study it for free when you arrived in Sweden. The government provides this course to any immigrant who is interested to learn the language.

Best Regards

Gillian

Yeah, I thought when I do go, I will take SFI (svenska för invandrare) classes when I arrive.

Good luck finding your course.
