For people who have applied recently to do a Masters, what kind of referee's did you use.

Apparently I need two academic referees, so I've chosen my Tutor at university and my supervisor for my current project.

Did anyone else need two academic referees or did you only have one and a personal referee?

If you can get the referees, i don't see what your problem is.

I used a personal one, but I'm a mature student so other factors came into play. Do you think one of yours will provide an unfavourable reference, hence the query?

I applied for a Masters (aged 43) and used a sort of semi-work semi-academic referee in the form of my subject area leader at the university for which I do a bit of ad-ed teaching; and my former employer (who had sacked me a few months beforehand; I thought I might as well make the bastard work for me for a change). I got on no problem - THEY WANT THE MONEY.

Yep i had to put two references for both of my MScs.
