Hi all
Am first year Phd student, and am having many difficulties at the moment with my supervisor and getting results. and also what is expected of a PhD student and how to organise your time better. i really am on the verge of quitting as its a molecular biology based project and my BSc degree was biology and i did not do any units apart from the first year any molecular biology units. and i could really do with some advice on what to do.
There is a PhD student group at MSN Groups where they discuss issues similar to your and give advice. Here is a link below. I think you will need to get a Hotmail account name or MSN one. Good luck.

Im in the exact same boat as you. I did a biology degree and got a 1st but ive felt totally overwelmed trying to get to grips with molecular techniques. I was also on the verge of quitting but I chatted to my supervisor about it and he said 'you'd be suprised how little is expected from a 1st year student, so give your self a break' Ive since chilled out a bit and am just begining to get some confidence. Having said all that ive just ballsed up my w'blot! good luck
