Hi, I'm really keen to do a PhD as I love research and would enjoy lecturing so see this as a useful career progression. I have a 2:1 in Marketing and in the 5 years since graduating have been working in Marketing at a football club. I'd like my PhD to centre around football but can't decide whether to look at a business or sociological angle - any ideas?
Also would the next step be to write a research proposal and submit to relevant staff at universities?
Also I have a young son so am keen to do this part time, would this hinder my chances do you think?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
wolveschik,
doing part-time will decrease your chances of getting funding. apart from that, i don't think there should be much difference.
i'm in sociology and there are two people in my year who have sociological projects on football. could send you more info if you want.
THat would be brill thanks! I'm not overly concerned about the funding element, my employer may be able to support me to an extent but personal circumstances mean full time would be difficult at the preset time.
Any info you have would be greatly appreciated, my email is lauraprice [at] wolves.co.uk
Thanks!
