Funding for Malaysian Students

G

Dear all,.. i am a MSc student here in Malaysia. I am expecting to complete my thesis by Aug this year. I am looking at the possibility to continue my phd somewhere else maybe in the UK. How difficult is it to obtain financial aid becuase i see most fundings are for EU or Uk students. Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

See our Funding and PhDs Explained sections for links and information. Funding for overseas students is very hard to come by. The best place to find funding is almost always your own department of education.

Hi, I also a Msc student, from Malaysian..but currently doing MSc in UK. I also interested to do phd here..but so far, I found that we are not eligible to apply most of the studentship. However, it is not impossible. We have to keep searching, asking..
Another choices are..commonwealth scholarship, british council, chivening scholarship.and again, these scholarship is very competative.

Hi, I am also from M'sia.

There are in fact quite a number of fundings available for international students.. very competive but i think to your advantage as you are going to obtain a master degree. For example, commonwealth and chivening (by 31 dec), ORS (by jan/feb), and many other college specific sponsorship.

Hi, I'm a 2nd year PhD student, obtained my degrees back in Malaysia. I got a EPSRC scholarship which was meant for UK/EU students (I was lucky to get this). By far, Malaysian students only eligible to apply scholarship from Chevening, British council, commonwealth, ORS, funding from dept. p/s: apart from those scholarships which can only applied by certain people back home i.e Petronas, MASA, JPA, TENAGA. Good luck.
