Hi, I'm new to the world of PhD and am currently in the process of looking at the process of PhD applications in UK. Not sure if I'm asking silly questions here but what is the difference between studentship and funding? Also, do I need to apply for fundings prior to PhD applications?
Hi Reenie, thanks for your reply. I've looked at it and I guess studentship is the same as scholarship.
One more question is that I'm an Australian citizen and am interested in applying for PhD in UK. It seems to me that the application process in UK is slightly different than in Australia. Is it compulsory to find a funding and come up with research proposal prior application?
Hi Sally, it varies - some PhDs are funded, so require that you find your own funding, some have a set topic, others are a bit more open to negotiation – here is more info
