I graduated a few years ago and wish to return to research and do a phd. However I missed out on a 2:1 by 0.2%, after graduating I did a MSc in a closely related subject. With this in mind do you think I will be able to find phd funding, or should I just go back to my original university and shout at my former lecturers....(I am a UK national looking for a phd in the UK)

Your MSc should save the day and you will be eligible for studentships from most UK funding bodies. Depending on what you have been doing since your MSc your time away from research could count against you, so be prepared to brush up on your subject before any interviews.
