Starting a PhD in Vision Sciences in September.

Really just starting looking around here for some tips on what to do in the month or so before I start but because the information around here is so helpful, I felt compelled to sign up.

Ha, don't be embarrassed, I shouldn't be using jargon. I'm a qualified optometrist and now I'm moving into the research field. It's basically eyes and their relationship with the brain.

Ah, that makes perfect sense. I should have known. :-)

I am starting one in something related to computation and biology this Sept as well. Good luck!
