I thought this had stopped, but it's back again. I was walking down the stairs earlier talking to myself about what work I'm going to be doing this afternoon, and then I realised what was happening.
This used to happen a lot when I lived on my own, but since sharing with others it seems to have stopped. Not anymore. I can only assume that I haven't been getting out much lately. Does anyone else talk to themselves, or is it just me showing the first signs of (PhD) madness?
I remember talking about this a year or two ago here. You're not alone Sylvester. I talk to myself too. I get worried when I start to narrate my life from a 3rd person's voice though; or drop song lyrics into situations without the melody.... Phd madness... madness forever :-)
Talking to yourself has different levels.......I would not be too worried if you are just talking to yourself. Talking to yourself is one thing, answering yourself another level........talking to yourself as a pirate talks is another level, responding to yourself like a pirate is yet another.....and then being obsessed with pirates, talking like them, talking about them, at every given chance...hmm.......perhaps this is reason to be concerned? Yet with all my pirate friends I am feeling a lot of serenity and getting lots of writing up work done. So why look a gift horse in the mouth? Arrrrrrrrrrr avast!!!!!!!!

Oh. I narrate signficant chunks of my life in the third person or talk about things I have done or thought as if somebodyelse did them. I don't know whether I am pathologically insance through! :$
chrisrolinski is thinking that he might go and get some fresh air.
chrisrolinski's thesis is somewhat needing work, he should start taking responsibility, rather than talking about his academic deficencies in the thrird person to deflect emotional involvement.
*maybe he is preparing for...* chrisrolinski failed his viva.

Chrisrolinski put down his books and logged out of his laptop to prepare for the thirty minute walk to his boyfriends. he must return to work tomorrow to finish his chapter by friday.
His window looks out over terraced laundry yards.
