I've got on a GTRA. It's worded as a 'maintenance payment'. 6/7 hours per week I will be assisting the department. How does this work for tax, is it taxable income? Just trying to get my finances in good order before the Sept start. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if it's taxable or not; however, even if it is, you only start paying tax once you earn over £9440 per year, so if you're only doing a few hours a week you probably don't need to worry about it (assuming that is your only job).

There might be some NI to pay if you receive more than a £109 in any week.
