Hi All-
I am in the process of building my resume for eventual (next year or so) PhD applications.
I'm looking to apply to a Conservation Biology (or something very similar, like Wetland Ecology..etc) PhD program
A little about me:
-I am an American citizen (born here)
-I received my Bachelors of Science in biology with a minor in environmental studies.
-I worked for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for a year
-I did a 25 credit post-bacc program for histotechnology (gpa 3.6)
-My last 60 credit hours total a ~3.4 gpa
-I've been doing volunteer work for the last 6 months with the state of Colorado (in natural areas/natural park conservation)
-I currently work for University of Colorado- Denver as a research histologist
-I will take about 9 more credits of graduate-level courses in GIS, GPS, stats, Conservation Biology
Anyway, I know my GPA isn't all that great (my undergrad was poor..about a 2.8), but hopefully my post-bacc GPA (and GRE scores) will show improvement.
I want to apply within 2 years, so I'd like to do whatever I can to boost my application before then. What do you think will help me most? Do I have a shot with what I have now?
Thanks in advance for all the advice!
-Chris
