Hi everyone,
I applied to a PhD with funding (through a university studentship) and was shortlisted for an interview. The interview went well and I was told that I would know the outcome within a week.
I received the day after an email from the university (from the doctoral admission) saying that I have been selected for the 3 year university scholarship to help fund my research and asking me to confirm that I accept the offer. However, I received nothing from the supervisors that interviewed me so even if this really looks like I've been accepted, I'd like to be 100% sure (I'd really like to receive an email stating something like "You've been selected for thid PhD"), especially since the email only mentioned the PhD studentship.
Given the current circumstances with the coronavirus, I feel like they all must be really busy with organization so I don't want to bother them by sending them an email to ask for confirmation.
What do you guys think about this ?
Many thanks for your help
First congratulations. Second you have been accepted. It is even better than an email from the supervisor.
Believe me. Funding is the PhD. If the supervisor likes you and there is no funding, forget it. If you get the funding, this means your subject and proposal are good enough to convince the supervisor and the choosing panel. Just reply with your acceptance and there is no need to worry at all. The word of the doctoral school is worthy more than the word of a PhD supervisor.
Hi eng77,
Thank you for your reply ! I actually just received the proper offer so it's all good now, you were right ! I should have been more patient before posting but as you can probably guess I really really really wanted to know ah ah ah !
Many thanks again !
