Hello everyone,
I'd like your views on what to expect in an interview for a lecturing position. Im aware they'd be asking about my PhD project however i dont know about the rest :s can anyone help?? im reading material related to the subject that came along with the post however the subject is quite vast...
thanks for your help :)
- why do you want the role?
- why X university?
- how will you fit into their current research interests
- what modules will you teach on (I was asked this once)
- what is your plan for publication
- what are your ideas for future research
- how do you intend to keep/improve the university's student satisfaction results.
- What would you do if..... (e.g. a student was caught plagarising or similar).
- How will you bring funding into the department (think of key grants, and other funding sources).
- How will you represent the university (e.g. conferences etc.).
when I was asked about teaching, I'd done some research but couldn't remember the module codes etc - big mistake! Take in the module codes, even if it seems a bit nerdy and say 'yes, well I thought I could teach penguin101 and polarbear102' even if they're faces say "erm no you won't" - just plough on and smile - at least it shows you know the course well!
