Interview

G

I know this question's been asked so many times but can some of you who's had an interview recently tell me what they were asked, please, i'll kill myself if I don't get it, have to prepare myself best I can, this is one in a life time opportunity, thanks guys

G

Here's some of the questions I was asked at my recent interview: Why do you want to do a PhD? Where do you see yourself in 10 years time? What is it about this project that attracts you? Hope this helps.

G

Also, make sure you have some questions to ask them.

G

Some more... What would you do in the first week of your PhD if we were to offer you it now (i.e. experimentally)? What do you plan on doing afterwards (e.g. remaining in academia)? Why this Uni/Department/Project? Good luck...

G

Hi Guys, I also have a Phd Interview coming up end of this month and really wanna nail it. It is a lil difficult coz it is a phone interview for me as i am miles away from the institution. How long do these interview usually last? Do they give you scenarios related to your project and ask questions???

G

They ask pretty much the same stuff they would in a normal interview except the good point is that you can have your notes in front of you and you are not as nervous!

G

Doodles, i don't understand how notes would work in edita's favour. having notes in front of you depicts lack of confidence & unfamiliarity with the area. i would say, go there & be confident. after all, you've prepared enough. answer the questions to the best of your ability. all the best.

G

I meant in a telephone interview you can have notes in front of you and they won't even know as they can't see you. It's quite a good experience to go through except the only thing is you can't gauge their response to your answers. I found it less nerve wracking anyway. Good luck.

G

ah, i gotcha Doodles.

G

Thanks guys, think I'm ready, let you know how it went, bye
