Hi all

I wanna apply for a PHD in computer science. One requirement is to write one page why I wanna do it.

- I dont plan an academic career after my PHD. Is it here a good idea to be honest in the letter of motivation?

- What points are really important to mention in such a letter? Of course I have to be interested in the specific topic and some experience. Also the reputation of the university appeals to me. Are there any other points i should mention?

Patrick if you're self-funding as long as you don't say something glaringly stupid it doesn't really matter too greatly. From the University's perspective it's a case of 'show me the money'.

where is the mention of self-funding?
