Masters & Working

G

I was wondering how feasible it was to do a masters full time, work part time, and still have some time for being socialable?

G

A friend of mine did a full time MA in London last year and worked 16+ hours a week. Think it was pretty tough but she seemed to find time to go out as well so it is possible!

G

Wow thats so impressive! Thank you!

G

Yeah fair play to her - don't think I could do it! Good luck!!!

G

working as a stripper would get you good money, and you can be sociable at the club at the same time. Best of both worlds

G

I think it depends on how tough and demanding your course is. I know of people who HAD to work during a really demanding course and it pulled down their grades considerably and they got into a lot of trouble for not handing in work/turning up for lectures. However if you are a well organised person who can go VERY far on lack of sleep, why not?

G

Ah Jesus now I'm being talked back out of it again! Its proving a very tough decison, which people have very different opinions on! And I'm afraid I really don't have the physique for stripping, but ta for the suggestion! x

G

I can give you my email address if you like, and I could tell you from a pic if you compare well to other strippers!!

I am going to start my MSc next week but now I have a full time job in hosptial. Does anyone have similar experience before, i mean Full Time job + Parttime MSc???

G

I am hoping to do a Full Time masters by research BUT work full time as well (40 hrs per week).
I am prepared to work constantly to get my taught modules done in the first 2 terms and hopefully carry out my research project with my company then I can spend time on it while I am at work.

Some of you seem to have had experiences of working long hours and studying full time as well. Does my plan sound completely bananas or possibley do-able?

G

This is exactly what I did and worked really well for me. Be careful about missing lectures as I almost got into trouble by missing the lectures for an entire taught unit as it clashed with my P/T job. Don't expect any sympathy from staff either - if you're registered F/T they'll expect you to be there and to do the work of a F/T student

G

Do any of you guys know a student that is a stripper because I want to get in touch with one for an article I'm doing for uni.

G

Yes, its tough but I managed to work 28 hours, do my MSc and be an officer in the student union. Just means that life is that little bit more fun and hectic.
