Masters with a 2.2

G

Hey all? just graduated with a 2.2 in physiology, looking to do a phd in future but need to get a masters first, however have found most will only take you to do a masters if you have a 2.1. how did everyone find one?

G

Hey Allan, I got the impression that they would still take you with a 2.2 if you interviewed well. Think it depends on the institution, the ads say 2.1 but if you apply most of the time they will see you - then you just have to show them how dedicated, bright and enthusiastic you are!! Good luck.

G

Still trying to get a place and losing hope! It depends on so much - your luck, who you're up against, etc... But if you keep on applying to the same places and keep getting rejected it's embrassing and won't they wonder why you've still not got a place?

G

Anyone know how to get those magic interview skils? That'd be greatly appreciated!

G

opps ... skills! Thanks

See our PhDs Explained sections for coments on interviews. The PhD Life section has a couple of links which may be of use. Also search this forum for 'interview' to see what others have said.

What does it mean "2.2" and "2.1"?

Olena,
1st = 5
2.1 = 4
2.2 = 3
3rd = 2 (still a pass)

G

True what Sara wrote! Its even possible to get a place if you have 40% on your degree. All the best of luck and you ll get what you want eventually.

I just got my B.Sc in Animal Sciences and will do anything to pursue my M.Sc abroad, help!!!!!

This is a very late reply, but for what it's worth. I got a 2:2 and went on to do a Masters. I applied, interviewed and impressed my tutors with my enthusiasm :)
