Hi guys, after five weeks of my phd application review, I mailed the program coord as to the timing of a departmental decision. Was told to expect one on the 3rd of October. I was surprised at the definite date I was given. Anyone think this is something odd.............

Were you meant to start a PhD in September? My PhD here in Australia had definite dates for application outcomes so that doesn't seem weird to me.
