Multiple applications

G

Hi Guys
What is a reasonable number of applications that you can make to the same uni, there are a few projects that I am interested in at one of the 'red brick institutions' but dont want to seem like I'm indecisive (which I am... I think...) Thanks

G

It seems like the former uni you when to your "indecisive" supervisors have rubbed off on you. Apply to one million if you have to. Don't be stuck at a Bsc, Msc like most people unless you are happy to be stuck there.

G

Don't make too many or else you will look indecisive - how can you convince them you're committed to this project for 3+ years when you're applying for lots of other projects?

G

But if the projects are in related areas this can be okay, and may even make you seem more interested in that field. I applied for several PhDs at the same institution, in two different schools, and no one seemed to mind. Be prepared for them to ask you at interview where/what else you have applied for though!

G

if its readbrick then ur gonna have to make up ur mind. They want someone commited and if u dont know what ur intersted in then maybe u aint ready.

G

If you do get asked about multiple applications at an interview then turn it around and show how much you are committed to doing a PhD e.g relish the opportunity of 3 yrs study, getting to grips with a topic etc.
