I was wondering if any fellow students on here have applied to/are on Edinburgh's progamme, and what your academic subject backgrounds are?
I'm planning to apply for the next academic year, starting in autumn 2007. I'm mostly attracted by the university's world class reputation and, it being an interdisciplinary course, by its structured first year since the subject is *related* but not specific to my undergraduate studies (which is the part that concerns me most). Of course, the other area of concern is that it seems - justifiably - a tough course to be admitted onto, especially in terms of obtaining studentship funding!
It would be great to hear the experiences of those in the process of applying to this or similar :) Or even just on postgraduate life at Edinburgh University itself!
i've met a few of the edinburgh folk and know of some of the work being done there (e.g. chris williams). i think most people had done engineering, maths, physics or comp sci at undergrad but most had done little or nothing related to the area of neuroinformatics.
Jewel - well, that's certainly interesting/encouraging to know! It would be great to speak to some current students on the course to find out their thoughts on the programme which hopefully I should be able to organised in the New Year since a helpful lady who deals with admissions has offered me a tour of the facilities.
Thanks for the quick response :)
