No reply from potential supervisor, what to do?

M

Hi all,

I found a PhD studentship I'm very interested under the search section, so I e-mailed the supervisor linked to ask for more details and ask if I could meet him, see round the department, etc. I got an out-of-office reply, and haven't heard anything since.

What's best to do? There is another supervisor mentioned in the project (although not under the direct enquiries to link) should I contact them?

I would say its best to phone the main supervisor. Emails get opened - put to oneside and then get lost in the long list of things. My sup gets about 40 emails a day at a minimum, so phone would be better. Also, my sup says she likes to see people are keen enough to contact her by phone.

Agree with sneaks, if it's been more than a few days then feel free to pick up the phone and chase up, no one marks you down for looking motivated. If you can't reach the first supervisor then politely email the second, explaining the situation.
