Not sure about whatI can do....

S

I was doing a physics course, but due to a couple of bad years, I wasn't on track to come out with a half decent honours degree. My advisor said I would be better changing to a physical sciences degree, which I have done. I would really like to do a PhD, and my heart really lies in quantum mechanics. The only thing is, I'm not sure if I would be taken seriously. Could I get some (honest) views?

S

Are you referring to an undergrad degree. If so, what year are you in?

H

What do you mean by "taking seriously"?

I did a physical sciences degree for my UG and it had quite a bit of quantum mechanics in it which was definately interesting for me. I don't see why you cannot pursue a PhD in it. If you are interested in it, you can read around the area and bring yourself up to speed. If you haven't yet chosen your final year project, is there anyway you can do something related to Quantum mechanics, this would obviously show you are interested. You basically need to show you are really interested in QM and that it is your passion. If you don't have much luck, maybe consider doing a MSc like:

Good luck

I'm in 3rd year, doing a resit because i haven't earned enough credits to go into 4th year honours. By taken seriously, i meant because of my circumstances, as i failed a couple of courses. :(

Oops, forgot to say, Im doing an undergrad degree, physical sciences. Was doing BSc physics.

S

Where are you at, what's your degree title and what are you expecting your final grade will be?
