out of touch

G

I graduated last year with a 2 (1) upper second class degree in animal science and i am considering doing a Phd in the field of animal behaviour or pathology, however i am a little aprehensive as i have been out of academia for a year now and feel a little rusty, can anyone familiarise with this situation or give me any advice

Thankyou

G

What is the problem? I have a lot of friends of mine who started their PhD after have working two or three years in firms or others...you are free. :-)

G

Yeah, I think a lot of people get that sort of feeling, but when you get back into the world of academia, you will pick it back up again. Don't worry about it too much

I had a year out to travel and now I'm totally raring to go!!

It was 3 years between my B.Sc and Ph.D. It was a bit of a chore to begin with, but I soon got re-settled. The people who wait 10-20 years: they are the ones who are likely to REALLY find it hard. Suddenly age and experience are no object when you start your Ph.D: it's the diversity I love about academia.
