After a years placement in the pharmaceutical industry I am interested in pursuing a career in it. Do people think a Phd makes you more likely to be emplyed the pharmaceutical industry or would it be better to go in as a graduate and let them train you? Ive also heard you will be snapped up straight away if you do a masters/phd in bioinformatics. Does anyone have ideas about the best way in?
Probably the better way in is a Master's. The reason, you will be quite prepared and the company will be able to pay you less than if you have a PhD. I think in general Master's preparation is more employable than PhD preparation, except in a few certain fields where the PhD is required for entry to the field.
