I have completed M. sc in electronics in the year 2009 and currently doing M. tech in electronics & communication with specialization in communication systems. However I don't have first class marks in my B.Sc.However I have higher 1st class marks in both M. sc and M. tech (till now). I would like to apply for PhD posts (spl. on digital signal processing/image processing/speech processing) in UK and other countries in Europe. Since I don't come form an English speaking country (India). I have few doubts regarding my application process:
1) Should I appear for TOFEL/IELTS? Is it necessary?
2) Since I don't have a 1st class in B.Sc,how badly will it effect my chances?
3) How important is research experience? Since I have strong theoretical background, but not much research exposure?
hi ricky
1) yes
2) dont worry about this; chances of getting a phd do not wholely depend on a 1st class BSc. although 1st class may help
3) its important; but your strong theoretical background should help you here
at the end of the day; your phd application will probably be focused on your project and how you will do it etc.
dont worry
goodluck
