PhD'er in Canada

I found this site and have been reading through the topics. Maybe there is a site based closer to my home but I haven't found it yet. So far I have found a lot of very good information here so I will continue to read.

The school I have been accepted to is the University of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada. It's not too far from my home, so I'll be headed there during the week and home on weekends. My department will be Education, Curriculum and Instruction and my topic is to explore First Nation's early education issues to understand why our students perform so poorly at higher levels. I'm very excited to be beginning this research, but I am also terrified that I won't be smart enough to handle it. My application was reviewed late and I am already past a lot of the scholarship deadlines so I'll be scrambling to pay bills at the same time as studying. My supervisor tells me not to worry as there are departmental grants as well as work-study positions available but it's in my nature to panic :-)

Ayway, thanks for posting such amazing information here, and I will continue to read. Anyone from around this area of the world?

PS - I love to travel and part of the attraction of this site is seeing where everyone else is from.
