G

Respected Sir, I m in the last semester of M.Sc(mathematics)and will complete my postgraduation upto june 2005. I am interested in doing my research. If you have any vacant positions then please do reply. I will be happy to work with you. My email id is: [email protected]
awaiting your reply.

G

I don't think you will get any replies for your request. Sorry to disappoint you

G

Yes perhaps a Mathematics Professor will stroll by here and offer the chap a PhD. Arun, this isn't how it works.

G

U need to apply to Professor directly with specifying your area of interest which indeed should match his research work.

I keep seeing messages like this one and I think it has to be said: you have to do your own homework! If you have access to internet, then you can probably access the websites of universities, their departments, and contact details for faculty members. Write to them! I don't think this site is meant as an advertising space for people who want professors to call them up and say 'hey, here's a phd just for you!'

Thanks postdoc. This is exactly what I highlighted on a post called "a new year request". Many simply hope to get a PhD and also a scholarship to go with it on a silver platter.

Normally we move messages like this to the General section, so that they don't get in the way of more interesting questions. However, at most we get time to do this once a day and the forum does get blocked up with them sometimes. We do not leave any interesting messages in the General section, so you shouldn't miss anything.

Thanks to postdoc & new year for trying to reduce the number of questions to whom the only answer is 'sorry, it's not that easy'. Sadly I think we're just going to have to live with them, people don't seem to notice that none of them ever get replied to (except sarcastically).
