Hi everyone,
Last week I got a funding offer (which I accepted) and was told I need 2.1 in my MSci to obtain that. I assumed my university would offer me something similar, however they've offered me a conditional place dependent on me getting a first class degree. I was expecting perhaps getting an offer of 65% or above.
I'm a borderline 2.1/1st student and my final grade is sort of dependent on what I get in my Masters thesis. But I'll definitely get a 2.1 and I also have a (very good) supervisor sorted - so sort of thought my PhD was guaranteed and that getting funding was going to be the hard part.
Does anyone know anything about failing to meet conditional PhD offers?
I wouldn't worry, they will most likely accept you with a 2.1, in the same way they usually accept undergraduates who miss their grade only slightly.
If you don't quite get a first, then contact the uni and see what they can do.
Also explain to your MSci project supervisor that you really need a first for the PhD and ask what you can do to get this grade...
