Hi, I was just wondering how important it is to choose the best university where you do your phd. I have been accepted into phd program in quantitative finance in Spain, the university of valencia. Does it matter where you actually do you phd? Any answers would be helpful for me thanks!!!

I think it matters in terms of geography. It's better to do your PhD in a country where you are going to work afterwards. If you want to work in a country different from the country of your PhD you better get sure that the department and the university of your PhD are well-known in a country where you wanna go afterwards.
If you want to be an academic, then make sure your supervisor is well reknowned in his/her field, or if they are early on in their careers make sure they are working in a department with a strong reputation. The reputation of the university as a whole is less important.
