PhD Psychology

G

Hi all, I'm interested in doing a PhD in Neuropsychology related area. I achieved a 2:2 BSc, a good pass in my masters and currently I'm working as an research assistant. I started of as a volunteer but I now get paid some hundrends per month. I will get my name on a couple of publications by the end of this year. Does anuone know if there are any chances I could get funding for a PhD? Thank you

Your experience gives you a good chance of getting a funded studentship. However unless you are a UK resident there may be very few funding options open to you. Your best option might be to continue working as a research assistant and registering for a part time PhD.

thanks for the reply. I only need to ask one more thing. I'm a EU student and as far as I know i pay or need to pay (PhD) the same amount of fees as a UK student. Isnt that the case? Is funding available only for British students?

Keep on trying as that's how I got my PhD offer - I am in same position as you as I have same qualifications, volunteered and have now got a position as a research assistant! It depends on where you get the funding from as I think for fully funded research council studentships you've got to b e British but for other sources of funding it doesn't matter. Eg. Marie Curie, uni, industry grants etc...

You are right that you only have to pay fees at the UK rate, and if you find a research council studentship you will qualify for a fees only award. This will mean they pay your fees, but no living expenses. The best thing to do is look out for places funded by charities or EU bodies - many of these will be available to all EU applicants.
