I've been accepted onto an MSc at Edinburgh in Literature. I'm really pleased with this as my BSc is in Maths and is only a 2:2/3rd, so I had to work really bloody hard.
When I've finished my MSc I might like to do a PhD. My question is this: I know I'm not eligible for AHRB funding for a Masters wihthout a decent BA, but could I get PhD funding if I got a good result in the MSc, even without the BA? What about teaching to pay my way through the PhD?
It all depends on the level of your MSc work. If you work very hard and make up for what you have missed on your BSc, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to get funding. Of course funded places are limited but it's never impossible to get what you want. My first degree wasn't that good, but my MSc helped me a lot, now I'm undertaking my PhD, fully funded. Good luck with everything.
