I have to start writing the chapters of my Phd work now. Can anyone tell me the correct format; the paper size, margins, font, size, etc. Is there a univerally accepted standard or do tehy differ from university to university. please respond.

Probably differs for each uni, but mine has the thesis specifications (margins, fonts, figure/table heading requirements etc.) listed on the uni website. Perhaps you could search your uni website to see if they provide the same info somewhere?

Yep, I found all the details on my uni website.

Ask student records (who you'll submit final copies to) if you can't find what you need on the web.

I found it very useful to look through previous theses in my dept. You should be able to obtain these from your head's secretary or via your library.

The best thing to do is ask your department. Mine has even a style guide online.
