Yes, of course. But you must have the right degree class (1st or 2:1). Then again, getting a PhD is competitive, so its also about experience. So in theory if you had a masters, you would have more experience, but there is no harm in you applying with just a bachelors degree. I know lots of people that have started PhDs without masters, then again I know lots of people that have masters. I got a 2:2 so had to get a masters degree, but I also got the project because of previous experience
Me too. I'm in the same situation as Stu! It also depends on the field you want to work in as some subjects are popular than others. In science alot of people do masters first for various reasons but it does help as it's a very competitve area. However that is not always the case. It just depends on the applicants and who you know.
I did an HND in commercial horticulture, was registered to do MSc in postharvest technology, but now have intentions to do PhD. It's become quite clear that you dont need MSc, and i will just do enough to get a postgrad certificate!! (Costs a bit of dosh you know!). So no, you def dont need MSc!
