I graduated from University with a master's (4-year) in Physics three years ago, and since then I have been working for an IT company.
I am really keen to return to Physics and complete a PhD preferably in high energy, or fusion physics.
Advice about how difficult it would be to return to these areas, if my application will be hindered in any way by my time away and the whole process would be greatly appreciated.
A pre-emptive thank you for your help.
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan
If you know that you want to do a PhD and the topic area, then I'd say just go ahead and apply. Obviously, your application would have been stronger if those three years of work were relevant to your chosen topic, but the longer you leave it the harder you may find it pyschologically to leave your job, get back into the groove of studying, used to the lower income, etc. Three years is not such a long time.
Good luck!
