Hi. Can anyone suggest me how to make pretty pictures for papers. I have to depict some enzymatic reaction mechanisms. I tried to do it in paint and power point, but it still does not look professional. I know GIMP and photoshop are two softwares used by graphic designers. Is it possible to make a picture from scratch with these softwares? I really like the pictures in books, I would like to make something like that. Thanks in advance. :)
Hi,
It 's not very clear to me what you want to do... are these drawings like chemical reactions? Maybe you can use software tools like these:

Photoshop is mostly for image editing. If you want to draw lines and shapes, Autocad is probably more suitable. But for both of them you need to invest some time to learn the basics.
