Hello all, I am starting on the hunt for a PHD scholarship and would really like to speak to a person rather than trawl through websites looking for answers, can any one recommend a site or organisation that I can speak to about where to start??
My question is:
I would like to study part in the UK and part in the US, where can I find a PHD programme in Education that would allow me to do this with a potential scholarship?
Any advice welcome as I am swimming in information...
You are in luck - grants of £6000 per year (+£2500 emergency funding) are available to women studying a PhD in the UK http://ffwg.org.uk/
Good luck with your studies :)
hi Lot_Tea
I recommend www.findaphd.com because that's where I found my phd.
Alternatively look at jobs.ac.uk under "phd".
best of luck

My PhD is structured as 2 years in the UK and 1 year in the US.
Are you sure you want to put yourself through this change in institution though?? It's hard!
My PhD was already structured like this (and to be honest, there's no point in it being this way), because one year is funded by the US Department of Agriculture. I think it will be difficult to get split funding like this yourself, so I agree with Satchi: you're better off looking for PhDs that already have funding from a UK university, so on findaphd.com.
You could also try the Fulbright website and apply for a US scholarship through that.
Many thanks for the replies, I am hoping to conduct part of my research as a comparative in the states and possibly Europe building on my Masters work, the Fulbright appears to offer an option for people to visit or exchange with another student which might be a good option, I had not really considered that it might be difficult getting to grips with another institution so many thanks for the Advice "Tree ofLife"
Hi Lot_Tea,
Some time since you posted this, but during my UK PhD, I spent over a year (14 months) in the USA.
